Help Otley Foodbank support local people
Otley Foodbank is run by volunteers. We are always grateful to hear from people who may be able to help.
Our work is supported by around 30 local volunteers.
There are several ways to get involved.
Drivers
Drivers deliver food packages to people’s homes.
This role involves face-to-face contact with clients, so we use a safe recruitment process. This may include an informal interview, references and a self-declaration form.
Drivers need access to a car and must be comfortable visiting people in different circumstances. Some deliveries may involve stairs, heavy bags or households experiencing difficult situations.
Packers/Organisers
Packers/Organisers help sort incoming donations and prepare food packages for different household sizes.
This work takes place at our base in Otley and does not involve public-facing contact. Some people help regularly, while others volunteer less often.
Supermarket donation drivers
Supermarket donation drivers collect donated food from local supermarkets and bring it to be sorted.
This role can involve lifting and carrying, but may suit people who can only help occasionally.
Referral co-ordinators
Referral co-ordinators help manage incoming referrals and coordinate responses.
This is a home-based role, but it involves handling confidential information and may include contact with referrers or clients. For that reason, referral co-ordinators also go through a safe recruitment process.
